Earlier this week, Canada's Task Force on Marijuana Legalization and Regulation released a report with more than 80 recommendations that they believe the country's government should consider as they prepare legalize cannabis for adult consumption. The overwhelming majority of the recommendations are positive and Parliament will now begin the process of drafting legislation.
Privateer's analysis of the report was featured in Bloomberg, The Globe and Mail, the Financial Post, the Vancouver Sun, and other leading publications. CEO Brendan Kennedy also discussed the report live on Canada’s Business News Network and CTV's Power Play.
Said Kennedy in a statement:
We applaud the Task Force for drafting a comprehensive report that charts a responsible path forward for cannabis legalization in Canada. For the most part, the Task Force put forward sensible recommendations that strike a reasonable balance between protecting public health with creating an accountable industry capable of eliminating the illicit market through competition. We look forward to working with the government as it considers the implications of the Task Force’s proposals. In particular, we believe it will be important for the government to consider how packaging restrictions may limit the ability of legal producers to educate consumers and to differentiate their products from illicit competitors.
