How can the cannabis industry embrace social responsibility, diversity, and inclusion? On April 26, Privateer Holdings CEO Brendan Kennedy and activist Donisha Prendergast, a granddaughter of Bob and Rita Marley, spoke in New Orleans at Collision, a prominent tech industry conference. In a talk entitled "Cannabis: A Sacred Plant and a Growth Industry," the pair discussed how cannabis companies can do their part to reverse the harms caused by prohibition. (One example: Rise Up, a philanthropic initiative created by Marley Natural, gives back to local communities by supporting programs for local farmers and entrepreneurs in Jamaica.) 

The discussion, which was moderated by Mic journalist Jack Smith IV, also touched on other themes, from how brands can fuel social change to why cannabis is, in Donisha's words, "the healing of a nation." A full video of the conversation was just made available and can be viewed below:
