Vice President, Corporate Affairs

As a public affairs, government policy and strategic communications leader who has worked on behalf of some of the world's most iconic brands and causes for more than a decade, Zack brings extensive experience leading organizations through their brightest moments and toughest challenges. 

At Privateer Holdings, Zack is working to build responsible, mainstream brands that fuel change and help end the social harms caused by prohibition. In his role as head of corporate affairs, he is responsible for government relations, public affairs, social mission programming and strategic communications in every market where the company operates, including Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Latin America and the United States.

Director of Global Corporate Communications at Starbucks Corporation. Zack joined Privateer Holdings from Starbucks in 2013. At Starbucks, Zack held multiple public affairs leadership roles focusing on global media relations, CEO and executive thought leadership, financial communications, crisis and issue management, policy and social impact communications, and brand storytelling in Canada, the United States and Latin America. As a lead media strategist and spokesperson, he regularly counseled the Chairman and CEO, as well as other members of the C-suite. Zack spearheaded the company's crisis communications planning and response capability. In this capacity he regularly trained executives, interacted with top-tier media on Starbucks most high-profile matters as company spokesman, and managed the company's response to brand reputation challenges spanning five continents over a period of nearly three years. 

Account Supervisor at Edelman and Manager at APCO Worldwide. Prior to Starbucks, Zack worked in San Francisco, Hong Kong and Washington DC at two of the world’s largest public affairs firms as a consultant to consumer brands, industry associations and a foreign government.

Zack lives in Seattle with his husband, where he enjoys cycling, hiking and running around the Pacific Northwest.
